Brooks Kenny
Brooks Kenny serves as President of Promoting Public Causes, Inc.™ (PPC) — a consulting firm that has provided communications and marketing expertise to organizations whose programs and services benefit society since 1991. Brooks directs the company's strategic and operational activities, assembles and manages project teams for clients, conducts training seminars, keeps her eye on marketplace trends in giving, and is called upon to speak for numerous groups on nonprofit communications, strategic planning, and cause marketing.
A seasoned marketing and communications professional, Brooks has extensive experience with nonprofit, corporate, and government sectors and bringing the sectors together through strategic partnerships. Brooks has a particular knowledge of public health issues and has served as a guide for many clients interested in promoting causes related to women's health, older adult health, and the environment.
She has implemented cause marketing programs for such companies as Fannie Mae and Wyeth as well as developed communications and branding approaches for nonprofit organizations such as Capital Hospice, the National Family Caregivers Association, the National Association of Child Care Resource and Referral Agencies, the Washington Hospital Center, and more. Brooks has also conducted trainings and served as a key presenter for government agencies including the National Institutes of Health and the USDA.
Brooks believes that her work at PPC is an extension of her passion for Doing Good Works™, and as a result, volunteers her time in the community. She has chaired National Capital Philanthropy Day, is a member of the Council of Advisors of a local nonprofit which provides affordable housing to families, and serves on the Center for Nonprofit Advancement's Washington Post Awards Committee for Excellence in Nonprofit Management.
Brooks was awarded a place among Leadership Washington's 2004 Class and is a faculty member with the Center for Nonprofit Advancement. Among the organizations that have asked her to speak on nonprofit communications and cause marketing are National Public Radio, the American Marketing Association, NetImpact, and the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
Brooks graduated from the University of Maryland and received her Masters in Public Health from The George Washington University.
